Finally, a reasonably well-informed news article about reverse mortgages – this one is in the Wall street Journal, which has disappointed me in the past. This is a piece on the new, lower closing cost loans now being offered by major lenders, and the benefits to senior borrowers.

Late on October 30 the House and Senate passed an extension of the higher loan limit for Home Equity Conversion Mortgages (HECM) of $625,500. This new loan limit is extended until December 31, 2010. Without the extension, it would have reverted to $417,000 at the end of 2009. The President is expected to sign this continuing resolution. [...]
